- 2 ripe persimmons, chopped (Smit Farms or Beatty Farms)
- 2 medium tangerines or 1 orange, peeled, seeded & chopped (Beatty Farms)
- 1 Fuji, Gala or Pink Lady apple, cored and chopped (Smit Farms)
- ½ teaspoon cinnamon
- ½ teaspoon ground nutmeg
- Place the cranberries, persimmons, tangerine or orange, apple, cinnamon, and nutmeg into the food processor, and pulse 10 to 15 times, or until it becomes a chunky salsa. If there is too much liquid, just drain it off.

Helen Woodward Animal Center Pet Of The Week
“Blaze” Sets Hearts A-Fire!
Meet Blaze, Pet-of-the-Week at Helen Woodward Animal Center! With a ruggedly handsome face and impressive build, one could easily mistake this 14lb, 8 year-old Domestic Short Hair feline for a tough guy. Blaze, however, has impeccable manners and is practically a poster-kitty for good cat-izenship. He’s also quite the athlete and loves to play chase with toys almost as much as he loves nuzzling the nearest hand. We’re voting this guy “Most Likely to Succeed” in making his forever family happy.
Blaze is waiting to meet you at Helen Woodward Animal Center. He has been altered and is up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. His adoption fee is $106, and, as with all pets adopted from Helen Woodward Animal Center, he is micro-chipped for identification. As an added bonus, he also comes with two free passes to Sea World!
Helen Woodward Animal Center is located at 6461 El Apajo Road in Rancho Santa Fe. Kennels are open daily Monday through Thursday from 12pm to 6pm; Fridays from noon to 6pm
Saturdays 10am to 6pm; and Sunday 11am to 6pm (last application accepted 15 minutes before closing). For more information call 858-756-4117, option #1 or visit www.animalcenter.org.
