Authentic Colombia provides fine handicrafts with purpose. Everything you see in their booth at the market has been crafted by hand by indigeneous and native people from various regions of Colombia- from the Caribbean coast to the Amazon rainforest! Each item is a unique piece of art: beautiful, vibrant, earthy, magical, and fashionable cross-body bags, filigrana jewelry, necklaces, and bracelets. The mission of Authentic Colombia includes giving a portion of your purchase price back to the communities of origin in the form of resources, education, and employment.
Monica Bitar and DP Waldman are the founders of Authentic Colombia. Born and raised in the capital city of Bogota, Colombia, Monica became a diplomat for the Colombian foreign ministry at the age of 22. She served in Colombia and internationally for 14 years. After a powerful series of life events, Monica left the diplomatic career and entered into the world of holistic health and spirituality. In 2015 she met DP Waldman, a life coach, entrepreneur and musician originally from Los Angeles, at a silent retreat in the desert of Southern California. DP fell in love with Monica, the land of Colombia, and the cross-body bags called ‘mochilas Wayuu’. Shortly thereafter, due to popular interest and demand, Monica and DP started offering mochilas and other fine Colombian handicrafts at a local bazaar in Encinitas, then moved over to their ongoing residence at the Rancho Santa Fe Certified Farmers Market.
Monica and DP are passionate about bringing you inspiring, magical and colorful wearable art that represents the best ofColombian culture and heritage: Mochilas Wayuu (cross body bags from the Caribbean coast), Mochilas Arhuacas (bags from the people who live high in the Sierra Nevada de Santa Marta), fabulous bracelets from Bogota and the Arhuacas, beautiful beaded necklaces from the Putomayo people of the Amazon rainforest region in Southern Colombia, and exquisite silver filigrana jewelry from the river town of Mompox.
Receive beauty, color, fashion, magic, and connection, and give resources, education and gratitude back to the maker communities in a new circle of giving and receiving. Welcome to Authentic Colombia!

Helen Woodward Animal Center Pet Of The Week
“Lincoln” Wiggles His Way Into Your Heart!
At just four months old and six pounds, Lincoln is a small but mighty force at the Center. He’s a silly boy who can often be found wiggling and wagging with his equally playful littermates. Lincoln’s a pup with a big name to live up to, and we know he’ll live up to it with the right forever family.
Lincoln is waiting to meet you at Helen Woodward Animal Center. He has been altered and is up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. His adoption fee is $425. As with all pets adopted from Helen Woodward Animal Center, he is micro-chipped for identification. As an added bonus, he also comes with two free passes to Sea World.
