Infuse Blueberries into Your Meals with 2 Fresh Market Recipes!
Recipe 1: Kale Peach and Blueberry Breakfast Smoothie
What you will need:
- 1 cup fresh pressed apple juice or water (Smit)
- 4 leaves Lacinato/Dino Kale (Sage Mountain)
- 1 fresh peach, pitted (Smit Orchards)
- 1/2 cup fresh blueberries (Smit Orchards)
- 1/4 fresh almonds
- 1 thin slice of fresh lemon with rind
- 1 tablespoon raw honey (Jonas Honey)
- 1 cup of ice
Combine ingredients in a Vitamix in the order listed. Select variable speed 1 and then slowly increase speed with dial then switch to high. Run for 1 minute on high. Garnish with peach or blueberries … enjoy!
Recipe 2:Blueberry and Walnut Spring Greens Salad
What you will need:
- 12 oz local spring greens (Sage Mountain Farms)
- 3/4 cup fresh blueberries (Smit Orchards)
- 1 Pink Lady apple cored and sliced into bite size wedges (Smit Orchards)
- 1/4 cup chopped walnuts (can substitute almonds)
- 1/4 cup cold pressed olive oil (Terrior by the Sea)
- 1 teaspoon balsamic vinegar (Thyme of Essence)
Whisk together the olive oil and balsamic. In a large serving bowl toss the spring greens with the blueberries, apple slices and walnuts while drizzling just enough of the balsamic dressing to lightly coat. Top with the chicken and blue cheese if desired. (Serves 4, Prep time 12 minutes)

Meet Helen Woodward Animal Center’s Pet-of-the-Week, Barbie! This 1-year old, 12lb spayed Tabby blend just one stunning cuddle buddy. With gentle purrs and a quietly inquisitive nature, she’s a quiet gal who wants nothing more than a sunny spot on you lap. She’s great with cats, kittens, and children, and might even be good with dogs- she just hasn’t met any yet! She’s even litter box trained, too. A dream come true!
Barbie is waiting to meet you at Helen Woodward Animal Center. She has been spayed and is up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $119, and, as with all pets adopted from Helen Woodward Animal Center, she is micro chipped for identification. As an added bonus, Barbie also comes with two free passes to Sea World!
