The Dog Days of Summer are almost upon us and to celebrate, over the next several weeks we will be showcasing some of our favorite four (and three legged) friends at the Market. DON’T FORGET, our weekly Rancho Santa Fe Certified Farmers Market is open Sundays from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM in the Del Rayo Village Shopping Center 92091.  Look for your favorites and new vendors each week and check out the new tenants in the center while you are there.

Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market is the perfect place for shopping local to fill your fridge with fresh produce and flowers, delicious treats, prepared meals to go and more!

Worried about what’s in the can of dog food you get at the store? Well, worry no more Chris Antonelli, founder of Big Brady’s Homemade Dog Food, is at the Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market every week with her homemade dog food!

Her special formula includes: Beef, pork, lamb, veal, including liver, hearts, kidneys and finely ground bone. Broccoli, carrots, apples, celery, kale, cabbage, bok choy, sweet potato, green beans, organic flax seed.  Your pup will LOVE their homemade meal!

This Weeks Fresh Market Recipe is Courtesy of Dog Training Central 

Raw Meat Mix – The Unstew


$7.00, 10 minutes
Raise your paw if you like it raw!


  • 1 lb. raw ground meat (Da Le Ranch)
  • 2 cups ground or pureed vegetables(Sage, Valdivia or Kawano)
  • 2-4 oz. raw organ meat (liver, gizzards, etc.)(Da Le Ranch)
  • half cup apple cider vinegar
  • 2-3 cloves garlic(Valdivia Farms)
  • 1 T ground kelp(Edible Alchemy)
  • half cup plain yogurt(Edible Alchemy)
  • 3 eggs with shells(Da Le Ranch)
  • a palm full of parsley (Sage or Atkins Farms)
Mix all ingredients (chop, puree, or leave in large chunks, depending on your dog’s preference) and store in the refrigerator or freezer. This mixture should account for 20-40% of your dog’s daily diet. The remaining 60-80% of your raw-food-eating dog’s daily requirement should consist of raw meat and bones (backs, necks, carcasses). These can also be ordered from either Big Brady’s or Da Le Ranch

Helen Woodward Animal Center introduces Ophelia looking for a forever home

Ophelia-2 (2)Meet Helen Woodward Animal Center’s Pet-of-the-Week, Ophelia! Ophelia is a 1.5-year old tabby blend with a tiny 8lb frame and a giant heart for people. Like her Shakespearian namesake, Ophelia is a lovely, fun-loving little lady with a charming personality and a flare for drama. She believes that all the world’s a stage, and plays accordingly.

Ophelia is waiting to meet you at Helen Woodward Animal Center. She has been spayed and is up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. Her adoption fee is $119, and, as with all pets adopted from Helen Woodward Animal Center, she is micro chipped for identification.  As an added bonus, Ophelia also comes with two free passes to Sea World!

Helen Woodward Animal Center is located at 6461 El Apajo Road in Rancho Santa Fe. Kennels are open daily Monday through Thursday from 12pm to 6pm; Fridays from noon to 7pm; Saturdays 10am to 6pm; and Sunday 11am to 6pm (last application accepted 15 minutes before closing).”
