The weather is gorgeous, the flowers are blooming and the sweet smell of lavender fills the air at the Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market this Sunday!

RSFFM_Logo_1_200Dear Friends,

July at the Market reminds me of summers in Italy and throughout the month I will be showcasing some of my favorite Italian Farmers Market Recipes.  This week we are making homemade Grape Vinegar and next week, Limoncello!  Not only is the Market the perfect place to find the freshest ingredients for this weeks recipe, but you can also find everything you need for Opening Day at Del Mar this week.  When all of this shopping warms you up, cool down with an Italian Ice from our vendor of the Week, Ice Cello!

DON’T FORGET, our weekly Rancho Santa Fe Certified Farmers Market is open from 9:00 AM to 1:30 PM in the Del Rayo Village Shopping Center.  Look for your favorites and new vendors each week and check out the new tenants in the center while you are there.

Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market is the perfect place for shopping local to fill your fridge with fresh produce and flowers, delicious treats, prepared meals to go and more!

Remember, to bring an ice chest in your car or on wheels so you can relax and enjoy a nice lunch made fresh for you right at the market.  Take a few minutes to slow down and enjoy our live entertainment with your family and friends in the comfort of new Market umbrellas, bistro tables and cafe chairs!
Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market … Make it a weekly habit.  Let’s go Shopping!

Ice Cello is the Vendor to See this Sunday

Please give Ice Cello a warm (or shall we say cold?) welcome to the Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market!  Ice Cello makes homemade Italian ices that do not contain any high fructose corn syrup.  Their original recipe for sorbet-like Italian ice comes straight from Sicily and is 75 years old.  Some of their most popular flavors include raspberry, cherry, lemon, mango, orange strawberry and watermelon.  Ice Cello’s shaved ice is the perfect treat to cool you down during our warm summer days at the Market.  Find out more at www.icecello.com

The RSF Fresh Market Recipe of the Week is…

Homemade Grape Vinegar

What You Will Need and Where to Find it:

  • 1 pound of Muscat, Concord or Cabernet Grapes  (Smit Orchards)
  • 1 1/2 quarts raw apple cider

To Prepare:

Wash the grapes and remove from stems.  Place the grapes in a 4 quart or larger glass jar and crush them down.  Add the raw apple cider vinegar and cover with a tight fitting lid.  Place in a cool dark place for 2 weeks.  Then strain the vinegar through cheesecloth.  Store in a clean glass mason or ball jar.  Will keep for up to 6 months.  Great for summer salads and marinades.

Bon Apetit!
