Bronto Mead
Welcome to Bronto Mead, San Diego’s finest meadery. Period. We proudly opened our doors on July 16th, 2016 in Mira Mesa. We offer the finest mead that is sourced with locally grown and sustainable ingredients sure to make your taste buds dance with the taste of victory. It is also naturally gluten free so no worries there!
What is mead you ask? Mead is quite literally fermented honey with water and yeast. If you add any fruits, it is called a melomel. When you use herbs and spices, then it is considered a metheglin. And when you drink Bronto Mead, it’s called the most delicious choice you could make!
From dry to sweet, we think we have all taste buds covered. We always have something different on tap so please be sure to check the tap list regularly to see what tasty concoction awaits your arrival!
When San Diego comes through our doors, we want them to experience a space where good people can come together and share this prehistoric beverage with the thunder lizard community. Join Us for the Doggie Gras Parade on February 11th!
Join Helen Woodward Animal Center at the Rancho Santa Fe Farmers Market on February 11th for the most “paw-thentic” Fat Tuesday celebration this side of the Mississippi!
Dress your pup in Mardi Gras themed costumes and connect with Center adoptable pups, alumni and revelers of all ages, breeds and creeds as we celebrate the festive occasion with a Doggie Gras pet parade. You can create your own parade “float” from a spare stroller or wagon.

Will 2018 Be Year of the Newt?
Happy Newt Year! Sweet, 1-year old Newt is hoping that this is her year… A staff favorite here at the Center, Newt is silky-soft, affectionate, and chock-full of personality. All she needs to make 2018 her year is a family to share her gifts with. Nuzzle in the New Year with this joyful lady!
Newt is waiting to meet you at Helen Woodward Animal Center. Her adoption fee is $82. She has been altered and is up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. As with all pets adopted from Helen Woodward Animal Center, she is micro-chipped for identification.
Helen Woodward Animal Center is located at 6461 El Apajo Road in Rancho Santa Fe. Kennels are open daily Monday through Thursday from 12pm to 6pm; Fridays from noon to 7pm; Saturdays 10am to 6pm; and Sunday 11am to 6pm (last application accepted 15 minutes before closing).
