Bread Bar
Raising the TASTE BAR since 2005!
Inspired by the Slow Food Movement and independent farmers and craftspeople, Bread Bar offers a wide array of breads, pastries and menu items dedicated to the season.
Artisanal bread – bread like ours that is baked by a process of traditional breadcraft – has a stunningly simple core recipe: it consists of nothing more than flour, water, some salt, and an agent of fermentation. The “art” of artisanal bread resides in the capacity of the skilled craftsperson to transform these four basic ingredients into an array of glorious breads. This artisanal process requires due time and depends above all on the joint intelligence of the baker’s mind and hands.
We bake the finest artisanal, all-natural homemade breads in Southern California. Our passion extends from classic traditional French breads to a full line of pastries and desserts, all infused with a contemporary American flair.
Come by this Sunday and pick up a delicious loaf or pastry to enjoy!

Helen Woodward Animal Center Pet Of The Week
Jamie the Friendly Giant
Deep within the forest of Helen Woodward Animal Center lived a most peculiar kitty cat. His name was Jamie, and although he was only 19-months-old, he weighed a whopping 14 pounds. All of his neighbors in the woods kept their distance from him. They were but wee kittens, barely 10-weeks-old, and the 14-pound Jamie loomed like a giant before their 2 and 3-pound frames. But in truth, the kittens of the woods had no reason to fear Jamie, for he was a gentle giant with the playful spirit of a kitten, just like his neighbors. He adores swatting his ball around in his kennel, making biscuits in his bed, and bringing his stuffed toys to his visitors. The only thing Jamie the gentle giant lacks is what he truly wants: a forever home.
Jamie is waiting to meet you at Helen Woodward Animal Center. His adoption fee is $145 plus a $36 microchip fee. He has been altered and is up-to-date on all of his vaccinations. He is microchipped for identification as with all pets adopted from Helen Woodward Animal Center.
Helen Woodward Animal Center is located at 6461 El Apajo Road in Rancho Santa Fe. Kennels are open Friday through Monday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call 858-756-4117, extension #1, or visit animalcenter.org.
