Meet Michael and Eveline
Born and raised in South Africa, the birthplace of biltong, Michael is bringing the diverse palate of this cultural melting pot of a country with its breathtaking abundance of flavors, cuisines, and culinary influences to the United States, helping to shape the growth of a revolution in taste and at the vanguard of a snack renaissance. Michael’s eclectic taste and love for experimentation and the singularly exotic and adventurous in terms of taste and flavor have seen him make biltong from everything from a variety of local antelope to traditional beef. An avid traveler from an early age, Michael has always adored cured meats such as biltong, droëwors, German Schinken, Spanish Jamon, Croatian Pršut, great Italian salami, and, of course, good ol’ beef jerky, ultimately leading him to start Yebo Craft Beef Snacks, combining his passion for cooking and exploring new cuisine with his vision of making the finest quality biltong and beef snacks available to more people to those who demand only the best.
Eveline, originally from Spain, supports the business with her marketing expertise. Having lived in South Africa for 11 years, the South African culture is embedded in her blood and she enjoys the pleasures of Biltong, Droëwors, & Chili Bites. Her love of cured meats comes from iconic Spanish products such as Jamon, Fuet, and Sobrassada.

Applejack’s Love is the One Piece You’re Missing
Love, play, cuddles. Applejack, the three-and-a-half-year-old Queen of Kitties puts forth this and everything else the world has to offer. “You want the treasure of my companionship?” she says. “You can have it. You just need to find me.” These words lure adventurous adopters to Helen Woodward Animal Center in pursuit of a human-animal bond greater than anyone has ever dared to imagine. Only those with stout hearts and firm determination will uncover Applejack from her hiding place. Legends say, those who find her will be rewarded with snuggles, head boops, and more purring than one could use in a lifetime.
Applejack is waiting to meet you at Helen Woodward Animal Center. For the month of March, her adoption fee is half off, at $65 plus a $36 microchip fee. She has been altered and is up-to-date on all of her vaccinations. She’s microchipped for identification as with all pets adopted from Helen Woodward Animal Center.
Helen Woodward Animal Center is located at 6461 El Apajo Road in Rancho Santa Fe. Kennels are open Friday through Monday, from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. For more information call 858-756-4117, extension #1, or visit animalcenter.org.
