Japanese Knives Select

About Us

“Oh…! My…! God…!!”, “You’re kidding me!!!,” or “I had no idea!” are some of the typical reactions of people who try the various demo knives on different veggies at the Japanese Knives Select booth every Sunday.

Japanese Knives Select (JK Select) offers carefully selected and hand-forged kitchen knives directly from master blacksmiths. Each blacksmith uses the techniques that have been passed down to them generation after generation, dating back to the era of katana-sword forging! All of the knives are exclusively distributed by JK Select. This is where you can experience and truly realize how one knife can make cooking so much more fun and efficient.

Krista Yamada, owner of JK Select, spent most of the 90’s studying and working in Japan. With her love of cooking and Japan, she was determined to bring these masterpieces of functionality and beauty to California. Her husband, Ichi, is a master sharpener who was trained by one of Japan’s most famous knife sharpeners, Masashi Fujiwara.

JK Select also offers engraving services (name, short message, corporate logo, etc.), sharpening services and sharpening lessons, as well as shipping. If you are looking for a high-quality knife for your kitchen or great gift ideas, just stop by the JK Select booth and say hi to Krista and Ichi this Sunday!

Ghost is a social butterfly, and this little 6-month-old will run up to everyone he meets with an open heart, eager to make new friends. Once he’s befriended you, he’ll go right into playtime. Ghost LOVES scratching posts and ball toys. So be sure to have plenty of both when you take him home! He’s a curious cat too. He’ll spend the first couple of days in your home exploring and trying to fit himself into every nook and cranny in your home. Be sure to give him the time and space to get comfortable, because once he feels safe, his affectionate side comes out! Ghost is, at heart, a loverboy. He’ll melt into your lap right before melting your heart.
